Transported Short Stories edition by Tim Jones Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I thoroughly enjoyed all the stories in Transported. They weren't too long so as to start dragging, or too short not giving enough to engage with characters; there was often a delicious Roald Dahlesque twist involved and they were mostly set in places I recognise (though have not necessarily been).
The only thing I didn't like about it was reaching the end...
I read this in 2010 and it was probably the best thing I read all year. A great mix of science fiction, quirky surrealism and simple romance, it was like breathing in clean, mountain air. It is so different from anything else that I've read before and hugely interesting and enjoyable.
You can find so many things in this book. There are strong showings for past Russian leaders, fast food, aliens, brief loves, cults that worship Cthulhu and famous Argentinian authors who have a go at settling in New Zealand.
Simply a great read.
