I've been reading mysteries that span the thirties and fifties partly for fun and partly for a bit of history. This book is long on fun and a bit short on history, but it has a nice plot, just a few twists, and a rare Mason ending that a reader has a shot guessing.Product details

The Case of the MothEaten Mink Perry Mason Book 39 (Audible Audio Edition) Erle Stanley Gardner Alexander Cendese Brilliance Audio Books Reviews
I enjoy reading these older stories while thinking of the characters as those found on the TV series Perry Mason with Raymond Burr. Gardner does great job of getting the plot all mixed up and only Perry Mason the genius can straighten it out again.
I love the flow of the Perry Mason books. In this, the 41st in a long line of the Mason saga the 1950's formula moves along fast with a smattering of humor and a wonderful glimpse into their lives. I am on a quest to read all 87 of the Perry Mason series dating from 1933 to 1973. I can't wait to see how Perry, Della and Paul evolve.
Excellent story--just excellent. A nearly impossible case, and questioning the right witness brings it all into focus for Perry Mason. I saw the TV episode twice, and the book of course is so much more full of what-is-going-on-here--you can't put it down. Another good one--it didn't disappoint.
A great story.
I have liked Perry Mason since I first saw the TV show back in the 60s. Going back and reading them now has been a great experience. The stories as well as the cultural views are really fun. ES Gardner always delivered.
The wrap up in the court room was a bit hard to follow which required the summation at the end. However it kept my interest for the entire story reading it in one day.
This is one of the tightest Perry Mason mysteries, and it stretches the Mason formula far more than most of the novels do, leading to a great last paragraph.
There are some drawbacks. The solution, as often in Perry Mason mysteries, involves a whole lot of new data for the reader to digest. In this particular book, the data are actually clearer and more relevant than usual. But in return, they're less believable. The murderer's plot is too elaborate to work as well as it does, and the murderer's hidden authority would, in the real world, have been known to the police months or years before.
I don't mind. The ending is exciting and, as always, the story flows with magical smoothness. Very well done.
I've been reading mysteries that span the thirties and fifties partly for fun and partly for a bit of history. This book is long on fun and a bit short on history, but it has a nice plot, just a few twists, and a rare Mason ending that a reader has a shot guessing.
